The Fort Smith Historical Society’s will celebrate Black History Month at its February 18th meeting. The special meeting will feature speaker Dorothy Sanders Johnson. At age 93, she serves as President of the historic Phyllis Wheatly Club in Fort Smith. Mrs. Johnson’s program, “Lifting as We Climb,” is a history of Black women’s service clubs in the Fort Smith area and the many ways such organizations have benefited the community.
The meeting will be held in the Community Room of the Main Branch of the Fort Smith Public Library on Rogers Avenue.
Doors will open at 5:30 p.m., with the program to follow at 6 p.m. Light refreshments will be served and guests are welcome!
