Fort Smith played host to the Arkansas Historical Association 84th Annual Conference April 10-12. With a focus on “Law and Justice in Arkansas,” the conference welcomed history enthusiasts from across the state for three full days of presentations, awards, fellowship, and more. According to the association’s website, “presentations covered a wide range of topics from all time periods and explored the history of Arkansas’s legal system, the enforcement and administration of the law, judicial cases and personalities, and challenges to injustice. During the event, the Fort Smith Museum of History was honored with the prestigious Diamond Award, which recognizes exemplary work in the preservation and presentation of local, state, and regional history.
